In my research in to the likely result to the obvious problems of an average baker in Nigeria, I discovered such topics as
- Business principles /knowledge /fundamentals: A baker going into the cake making business should have a minimum of general business principles such as 'what is business ', 'what is profitability in business ', investment in business and so on.
- Positive mindset development: What you see is what you get; how far you can see determines your dreams and determine how much effort you put which eventually determines the quality of your result.
- Strategic skill acquisition: What are the basic skills to acquire first? When do I update my skills? What skills return investment fast?
- Synergy: You don't have to know all about every aspect of a cake job; to execute it, all you need is a network of bakers that you would execute with together. Choose a particular aspect of cake making, be an expert in it and market yourself go your fellow bakers.
- Other career opportunities in the cake world: Do you know that all you can do in the cake world is not just to get customers and make cakes for them? There are lots more areas to explore. Ever thought of making news about the event in the cake world? Ever thought of research and innovation department?
- Branding: Do you want to be known?? What do you want to be known for??? How do you want to be known??? And by what class of people??? Do you know that your vision statement tells a lot about your brand?
- Business accounting: Are you making profit??? How much profit are you making??? The real value of a cake is not just determined by the cost of producing it, it is determined by the cost of staying in business.
- Marketing: A robust customer base is a backbone of a cake business that would succeed. Your locality does not determine your customer base.
